Church Library-Book Review
"Tom Osborne on Leadership" by Pat Williams
Review by Dan Murray
This book deals with life lessons that Tom Osborne taught his players through his beliefs and especially his actions through his Christian faith. As we all know, Tom was not one to "push" his faith on people, but people were well aware of his walk with God.
The topics include: character, competence, boldness, vision, people skills, a serving heart, and communication.
The book is unlike other books about Tom Osborne because the author collected excerpts from other coaches and players on how Tom's faith and leadership skills have influenced them in their lives.
Tom firmly believed the natural order of life should be faith, family, school, and finally football. Football was just a byproduct of trying to live a successful life. Tom tried to help everyone to prepare for life and not just football.
So, if you wish to understand Tom Osborne's philosophy of life, the impact he had on others, and to relive some of the glory days, this is a good book.
